Aqua, Coventry

On Thursday night it was pouring with rain. We were not really hungry but it was dinner time and we’ve been to M&S to do some shopping. I felt like trying some different cuisine so I got Naomi to track down to Aqua for some Lebanese food.

Naomi ordered some really nice Lebanese red to get us started and we soon mellowed. The lighting was subdued and it was quiet that rain soaked night. We decided on sharing some starters and a main course. We had the Jawaneh Djaj Mashwiya, grilled chicken wings with garlic sauce, Fattet Hommous Bil Laban, boiled chickpeas, toasted bread and crushed garlic topped with yoghurt & pine kernels and Sebanikh ma Ruz, spinach cooked with onions, spices, coriander and lemon.

It was all very tasty although to be honest, I expected the grilled chicken wings to be more crispy. It went down very well with the garlic sauce. I’ve never had hommous with yoghurt and it was surprisingly good especially with the bits of toasted bread.

Spinach was as it should be cooked, not mushy as it can be if overdone and the lemon added a citrony tang to the overall taste. It went well accompanied with rice.

Neither of us had any room for dessert which was a shame. I will go back another day when I am hungry!

Aqua is at The Butts, Coventry, with level access and accessible toilet.
