Ever so often I get a hankering for noodles.. I love noodle places, I find it a throwback to when I used to get noodles from a roadside stall, a tai pai tong, after school or after church on Sundays in Malaysia. Big fat wheat noodles in a curry soup or rice vermicelli in clear soup but with a big dollop of curry paste. Nothing elegant about it when you slurped those twisted noodle strands into your mouth.
Noodle bar in Coventry Bullyard is in a different world but it s my closest equivalent of similar meals in those schooldays. I went for my favourite – clear rice vermicelli topped with soya chicken with a side dipping dish of Ginger paste in oil. There is a singularly special combination of velvety chicken with the tang of salty ginger thats just right soaked up by the rice vermicelli.
